AAFA Supports Mongolia Third Neighbor Trade Act

April, 12, 2019 | WASHINGTON, D.C.

Today, the American Apparel & Footwear Association expressed its support for the Mongolia Third Neighbor Trade Act following its introduction in both the House (H.R. 2219) and the Senate (S. 1188). The bill would provide duty-free access to the U.S. market for products made in Mongolia, using Mongolian cashmere.

“Mongolian cashmere is a brand in and of itself. This bill would provide a market for Mongolia’s authentic cashmere, supporting growth and creating jobs throughout the U.S. cashmere value chain,” said Rick Helfenbein, president and CEO of the American Apparel & Footwear Association. “At the same time, by passing the Mongolia Third Neighbor Trade Act, Congress would forge a stronger partnership with our friends in Mongolia and provide American consumers with better access to these high-end products.”
