AAFA Urges Collaboration in Canadian Plastics Regulation

Health Canada (HC) and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) have proposed adding “plastic manufactured items” as a Schedule 1 Toxic Substance under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. This is a first step toward regulating plastics of many kinds, and it includes clothing and textiles as examples of “plastic manufactured items.” AAFA urged HC and ECCC to collaborate with industry partners as it moves forward with plastic regulations to maximize the positive impact of the work that both industry and government are doing to address the issues caused by plastic pollution.
