Meet the Keynote - Robin Christensen, Sc.M., Deputy Director, Safer Consumer Products, Department of Toxic Substances Control
Robin Christensen, Sc.M. has worked at the intersection of science and public health for more than two decades. She joined DTSC as Deputy Director of Safer Consumer Products (SCP) in August 2024 after 18 years of distinguished service with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
Robin served as Chief of Biomonitoring California’s Investigations and Outreach Unit within CDPH, managing the California Regional Exposure Study, which measured Californians’ exposure to potentially harmful chemicals. As a member of the Governor’s COVID-19 Testing Task Force, Robin led statewide supply distribution efforts, ensuring that scarce laboratory testing materials were allocated equitably. Prior to joining DTSC, Robin served as Chief of CDPH’s Substance and Addiction Prevention Branch, managing and directing scientific, professional, and technical staff in working to minimize negative health, social, and legal impacts of substance use and addiction. She took on the challenging assignment to provide much needed leadership during the height of the opioid epidemic.
Robin holds a Master of Science from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She lives in Sacramento.
