The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) develops the Higg Index (http://apparelcoalition.org). The development of the Higg has been a global, collaborative, effort among retailers, brands, manufacturers, service providers, NGOs, academics, and others. It is a self-assessment tool for the apparel and footwear industry for assessing sustainability impacts (environmental, social, labor, etc.) throughout a product's entire life cycle - from company philosophy and values, to design, materials, production, consumer, and end-of-life.
